The goal of the project is to build a statistical model relating spatially varying soil moisture to climate and topographic variables, which will be used to provide predictive distributions for soil moisture under changing climate scenarios.  We are focusing on the geographic areas in which Jim Clark's group has obtained data to calibrate their forest model, so that the predictive distributions can eventually be used as input to the model.
